Hello,
I'm Jamie and I'm glad you found me here.

As a homeschool evaluator, I am on a mission to help parents organize portfolios in a stress-free way and sign off on their yearly homeschool evaluation. As your evaluator, I want to help you with any hurdles you are struggling with to understand the evaluation process. I will educate you on the process and help put you at ease that you have everything you need in your child’s portfolio.

GOALS

What are my goals as your evaluator?

Prior to our evaluation sessions, we'll focus on how to prep for the evaluation. The evaluation process may seem scary to first time homeschoolers but I am here to put you at ease and to act as your guide.

During our evaluation session it is a time to reflect and celebrate your child's achievement during this homeschool year and check you have met all the state requirements.

ABOUT ME

I am a teacher and homeschool mom, so I can relate.

I have been a teacher for over 20 years now. In the past I worked in a brick and mortar school for 10 years before transitioning to an online homeschool program.

I love the homeschool philosophy and feel children that are supported through the process thrive. I have helped many families throughout my years as a teacher that have come from all different backgrounds and with different educational journeys.

My own children were part of several homeschool programs so I know what its like to deal with the challenges and the successes of homeschool life. It is a joy to serve my community and children throughout the state of Florida especially my homeschool families.

I have a Master’s in Environmental Education and a Bachelor of Science degree. I am Florida certified in 5-9 Middle Grades Science and provided is my  Florida Department of Education # 904137 expiring in 2026. I am also Reading Endorsed.

ABOUT PORTFOLIO EVALUATIONS

So now that you know a little about me, how can I help you? Well, first of all, let me tell you a little bit about what a homeschool evaluation is and what student portfolio is and isn't.

It's NOT a test?

Keeping a portfolio is required by the state of Florida to record your child’s learning throughout the year.

Therefore, a  portfolio evaluation is one of the easiest ways to complete the yearly homeschool evaluation because you are already keeping these records anyway.

It proves that your child hasn’t been truant.

It's easier than you think

Parents determine the contents of a portfolio but by law it must contain the following:

  • Log of educational activities
  •  Titles of reading materials
  • Samples of work

Parents get to determine how the portfolio is organized.

Also it does not need to include every single thing you did all year. Just stick to the requirements.

Portfolios can also be digital!

Passing the evaluation should not be a worry

If you keep a record of your educational learning, titles of reading materials and work samples, you will pass a homeschool portfolio evaluation without a problem.

Also parents get to decide what work samples to include.

They also determine the level of detail too.

Don’t over think it just stick to the basics of the requirements.

Must be completed by a certified teacher

Only a certified teacher from the state of Florida can sign off on a homeschool portfolio evaluation.

The teach does not need to be certified in a certain grade level to sign off on your evaluation but should have knowledge of the evaluation requirements to make sure you are not overthinking the process. They are there to guide first time homeschooler parents through the evaluation process.

The portfolio must be kept for two years and is one way to complete a homeschool evaluation.
